Whichever you use though, you should makes sure to wipe only along the grain and in a very gentle manner in order to avoid making things worse. If you are moving into a new house, you may encounter some unavoidable instances of paint splatters. Depending on the type of paint in question, you will want to use different approaches. Latex based paints will require only water to remove, while oil-based paints will need a thorough but gentle scrubbing with mineral spirits. Minor damages, such as the previous examples, are a normal part of every household.
